History
-------

Amethyst is a native of Gemworld, an other dimensional realm populated by twelve houses of sorcerers, each named after a different gem. For many centuries members of the house of Amethyst ruled the Gemworld. Lord Amethyst wore a mystical purple gem that was also Pantagones, one of the mighty entities known as the Lords of Order. He permitted Pantagones to take possession of his body in order to battle the opposites of the Lords of Order, the Lords of Chaos. While in mystical possession of Lord Amethyst's body, Pantagones impregnated Lord Amethyst's wife, Lady Amethyst. She gave birth to a daughter, who also received the name Amethyst, and who, like her father, was a Lord of Order.

Vandaemeon, one of the Lords of Chaos, sought to conquer the Gemworld, employing as his principal agent, Dark Opal, head of the House of Opal. During the war with Dark Opal, Lord Amethyst and Pantagones both died. Dark Opal himself murdered Lady Amethyst and sought her daughter to complete his triumph; but Citrina, a sorceress who served the House of Amethyst, sent the infant Amethyst through an interdimensional portal to Earth, where Herb and Marion Winston adopted the infant, and Dark Opal, meanwhile, became absolute ruler of Gemworld.

Amy, as her adoptive parents named her, spent her early childhood on earth as a normal American girl, completely unaware of her true origin and latent powers. On the night before her thirteenth birthday, abductors came and took Amy into the Gemworld. Now 20 years old (apparently because time passes at a different rate in Gemworld than it does on Earth), Amethyst discovered that she had magical powers and began learning how to use them. She assumed her hereditary role as princess of the house of Amethyst and led her House and ten others in the overthrow of Dark Opal.

For a time, Amethyst journeyed back and forth between Earth, where she existed as a girl in her early teens, and the Gemworld, where she existed as an adult sorceress, but Amethyst was on Earth as an adult when she used her mystical powers to help fight against the planet's invasion by shadow demons serving the Anti-Monitor. During the battle Amethyst fought furiously , but she was blinded by the demons. Subsequently, she was delivered back to Gemworld by the original Doctor Fate, one of the Lords of Order. Fate revealed to Amethyst that she herself was a Lord of Order and told her that her duty was to protect the Gemworld from domination by the Lords of Chaos.

Some time later, the wizard Mordru was wrecking widespread devastation through Gemworld when Amethyst found him. Amethyst battled Mordru while hoping to find a way of awakening Mordru's true personality, that of Wrynn, the son of Lord Topaz and Lady Turquoise. Amethyst succeeded in defeating the Lord of Chaos called Child, while Mordru ceased fighting after slaying his brother Donal. Amethyst cast a spell that imprisoned Mordru alive within the Gemworld itself. Then she merged with the Gemworld, her work accomplished for the present.

Amethyst's personality has evolved considerably over the years. She began as a spirited but ordinary child whose life revolved around her family and friends on Earth. When she came to the Gemworld and learned she was both a princess and a sorceress, she quickly adjusted to her new roles, demonstrating strong natural leadership abilities and courage in the face of great dangers. Now she has left her past life on Earth behind, and has taken the welfare of the entire Gemworld as her principal concern. Gemworld, later named Zerox, the Sorcerers World, was destroyed by a leftover evil inside it during the Magic Wars. (Maybe Child or Mordru)

Powers & Weapons
----------------

Amethyst always had tremendous potential power as a sorceress, although it took time for her to learn to master her mystical abilities. She usually channeled through her hands the magical power she wielded. Amethyst can fly, create magical protective shields, and project powerful bolts of mystical force. She can also create interdimensional portals that permit her to travel between Earth and Gemworld. Over time she learned how to cast a wide range of different kinds of spells. After she was blinded, Amethyst developed a mystical "inner sight" that enabled her to see.

CHILD AND FLAW
--------------

There have been many battles between Lords of Order and Chaos, and one of their fiercest occurred in the magical realm known as the Gemworld. Princess Amethyst, shortly after the cosmic event known as the Crisis, learned she was the Gemworld's resident Lord of Order. Child, a Lord of Chaos, soon arrived and began a path of destruction that nearly ruined the land.

Child and his servant, Flaw, announced that Chaos had come to claim the Gemworld and that Amethyst was powerless to stop them. A battle ensued that altered, and Amethyst became once with the Gemworld, shattering Flaw and forcing Chaos back to the realm of Chaos.

From the history of the 30th century Legion of Super Heroes, it has been learned that a sorcerer named Wrynn will soon be born on the Gemworld. Wrynn will someday become Mordru, on of the Legion's deadliest foes. During Wrynn's eventful bid for domination of all worlds and dimensions, Flaw and Child will resurrected to engage in a mystical war. Being magical in nature. Flaw and Child will inevitably resurface time and time again to menace the supernatural citizens of the DC universe.

Child is a mischievous Lord of Chaos whose diminutive body and immature attitude often hides the fact that he is a ruthless welder of magic. He reads minds, travels dimensions, hurls mystical energy bolts, transforms objects, and sheath himself in a protective coating of black light. Only direct contact with Lord of Order can harm Child; he his terrified by the touching of Amethyst, whose "light" power has caused him great harm.

Flaw was constructed imbued with life via the magic of Child. He has been known to speak, and seems to care more about Child's safety than anything else. Flaw obeys Child without question, and his incredible strength and crystalline invulnerability make him nearly unstoppable. When destroyed Flaw can be regenerated from any existing piece of his body.
